About the artist
Julia Needhammer
Julia is the owner and creator at Hammer and Clay. She has been making ceramic goods for several years. She has found a joy in creating functional pieces that are fun to look at. Her design style is inspired by the elements of nature like the sun, mountains, pine trees, and rocks found in Arizona, with an added splash of color and sharpness for a retro look.

Though she has been honing her craft in her adult life, Julia first found a fascination for working with clay as a young child in school where her mom was the art teacher and clay day was the absolute best. Julia remembers trips to the school kiln after hours to check the temperature and firing process with her mom. Moving on from coil pots and figurines of animals, Julia now loves creating ceramic pieces for others to use and enjoy.

Julia is also a passionate horse owner and amateur equestrian. Her love for horses has led her to explore and offer horse hair pottery to create cherished art pieces.
